No Meeting Tonight

February 13th, 2007

Due to the bad weather, there will be no meeting tonight (Tuesday). We should hopefully be able to have a meeting tomorrow and we will have a longer meeting on Thursday to make up for tonight: 4 p.m. until at least 8.

A Robot is Born!

February 12th, 2007

Our new robot was “born” around noon on Saturday. It moved; in fact, Jimmy sat on it and drove it around Lafayette. It is very agile and seems to be quite sturdy. I’m sure that’s because there is NO wood on it! We finally got the program working and the electrical bugs worked out, thank heavens.
The ramp has been built and attached and the mechanism to lower it has been installed. Mike Solomon is working on programming to be able to operate the ramp from the interface.
We have a new mentor - Andy Hereford, who was a great help on devising a mechanism to lower the ramp. Ryan Steege was a great help and Marshall showed up, too!
The schedule this week is back to normal, with Mon - Thurs nights from 5:30 until 8; Saturday, from 8:30 until 3. We are aiming to test the robot at Gateway on Saturday. If we need another meeting, it will have to be on Monday, during the day, since the robot has to be shipped on Tuesday. It’s getting very close!

Change in Schedule This Week!

February 3rd, 2007

We are meeting Monday February 5, as usual from 5:30 until 8.
On Tuesday and Thursday, we are meeting from 4:00 until 8. You are still welcome to come at the usual time, if you wish. If you come for the entire time, you will need either a sack dinner or money to split pizza.
THERE IS NO MEETING ON WEDNESDAY. FEBRUARY 7.

2007 Rockwood Robotics Team

January 21st, 2007

Team 1098 consists of students from Rockwood’s four high schools. This is our fifth year competing in the St. Louis FIRST Regional at the Family
Arena, which is Thursday through Saturday, March 1 – 3.

We meet Mondays through Thursdays, 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The robot ship date is Tuesday, February 20. If school is closed for bad weather, there will be no work session that day. As the ship date approaches, there may be additional work time scheduled.

We are very appreciative of the contributions of Pfizer, Inc., Lafayette High School, Marquette High School, Rockwood Summit High School, and Eureka High School for contributing to this year’s team. Lafayette High School graciously allows us to store our equipment and materials and to use the metals and woods lab to build our robot.
